Youth Dal Must Engage in Public Welfare Activities to Earn People’s Trust: CCC Administrator Dr Shahadat
He urged Jubo Dal activists to work in coordination with Chattogram City Corporation officials to address public sufferings, improve cleanliness and establish civic discipline across the city.
Dr Shahadat made the remarks as the chief guest at a discussion meeting and food distribution programme organised on Saturday (October 31) to mark the 48th founding anniversary of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal.
He said people in different parts of the city were suffering because of the indiscriminate parking of handcarts and rickshaws and the dumping of waste in inappropriate places.
Jubo Dal activists could play an effective role in resolving these problems by working together with the relevant CCC officials, he said.
Highlighting his vision of building a “Clean, Green, Healthy and Safe Chattogram”, Dr Shahadat said Jubo Dal should take a leading role in achieving this goal.
“Serving the people is the main purpose of politics. Political activists must stand beside the people, reduce their sufferings and extend cooperation to improve civic services,” he said.
Recalling the sacrifices made by Jubo Dal activists during past political movements, he said many leaders and activists, along with their family members, had faced lawsuits, attacks and repression.
He urged the party activists to uphold the organisation’s image and avoid any activities that could undermine the reputation of the party or its leadership.
Dr Shahadat also stressed the importance of honesty, morality and accountability, saying that public trust could only be earned through responsible conduct and welfare-oriented activities.
He expressed hope that such initiatives would also help the party gain public support in the upcoming local government elections.
Jubo Dal activists should not limit the founding anniversary celebrations to formal programmes but should instead make a commitment to serving people, he added.
Abul Hashem Bakker addressed the programme as the chief speaker.
Special guests included Chattogram Metropolitan Jubo Dal President and former central executive committee vice-president Mosharraf Hossain Dipti, General Secretary Mohammad Shahed, Senior Vice-President Iqbal Hossain, Senior Joint Secretary Mosharraf Hossain and Organising Secretary Emdadul Haque Badsha.
The programme was chaired by Mohammad Selim, convener of Chawkbazar Thana Jubo Dal, while Senior Joint Convener Mohammad Sohel conducted the event.
Among others present were former Assistant Office Secretary of Chattogram Metropolitan BNP Khorshed Alam, West Bakalia Ward BNP Convener Haji Imran Uddin, Member Secretary Mohiuddin Mizan and leaders and activists from different units of BNP and Jubo Dal.
The discussion was followed by the distribution of food items among underprivileged and distressed people.
