US Supports Measles-Rubella Vaccination for 3.4 Million Children
The United States is supporting Bangladesh’s ongoing measles and rubella catch-up vaccination campaign through UNICEF under the America First Global Health Strategy.
The support is aimed at protecting vulnerable children amid the ongoing measles outbreak in Bangladesh.
The nationwide campaign, which began on September 26, targets 3.4 million children aged between 6 and 59 months.
The US Embassy in Dhaka disclosed the information in a press note on Wednesday (October 7).
US Chargé d’Affaires Eric Gillan visited the ongoing vaccination campaign at the T&T Field in Korail, Banani, Dhaka.
He was accompanied by Health State Minister Dr Mohammad Abdul Muhit, Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Administrator Md Shafiqul Islam Khan, Chief Health Officer Brigadier General Imrul Kayes Chowdhury, UNICEF Bangladesh Chief of Communications and Advocacy Miguel Mateo Muñoz, and UNICEF Bangladesh Immunization Lead Dr Riyad Mahmud.
