Richa Chadha on ‘Hanuman Part’: Religious Content Performs Well
Bollywood actress Richa Chadha has commented on the unexpected success of the Indian film ‘Hanuman Part’, saying religious and mythological content generally performs well with audiences.
The film has reportedly become one of the biggest surprises of 2026. Made on a budget of around Rs 2 crore, it has earned more than Rs 400 crore worldwide despite having neither a major director nor a major star in the cast.
However, Chadha said the film’s success alone should not be taken as evidence of a major revolution in content.
She noted that religious and mythological films have traditionally attracted Indian audiences and that viewers tend to show strong interest in such stories. Therefore, she said, it would be premature to conclude that the year has seen a major shift in the type of content audiences prefer.
The Indian film industry has long seen demand for films based on mythology and religious scriptures.
‘Hanuman Part’ is based on the life and teachings of spiritual guru Neem Karoli Baba.
The film is directed by Vishal Chaturvedi and stars Shovibnav Satya in the lead role. Chandan Anand, Purnima Tiwari and Anil Rastogi also appear in the cast.
