Markets and Shops to Close at 8 PM from Today
The special permission allowing shopping malls, markets and shops to remain open until 10 PM during Durga Puja has ended. From Friday, October 23, these establishments will return to their previous schedule and remain open from 11 AM to 8 PM. As a result, closing time has been brought forward by two hours.
The government has revised business hours for shops and markets several times this year to save electricity and improve power management. Most recently, on October 5, the Power Division allowed shops and markets to remain open until 10 PM through October 22 on the occasion of Durga Puja.
According to the Power Division’s directive, shopping malls, markets and shops were permitted to operate from 11 AM to 10 PM until October 22. From October 23, the previous schedule of 11 AM to 8 PM would come back into effect.
With the special permission period now over, the previous business hours have resumed from Friday.
