Nationalist Forces Will Not Surrender to Anti-State Conspiracies: Rizvi

BNP Acting Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has said nationalist forces will never surrender to anti-state conspiracies or aggressive forces.

He said nationalist forces would fight with their last drop of blood to protect the country’s independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Rizvi made the remarks on Wednesday (October 7) at a discussion organized by the Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal at the Dhaka University Senate Building to mark the seventh death anniversary of BUET student Abrar Fahad.

Recalling his meeting with Abrar’s father, Rizvi said he felt both proud and emotional while sitting beside him. Abrar’s father told him that he had been a student of Rajshahi University and had voted for Rizvi in the 1990 RAKSU election.

Rizvi alleged that the previous “fascist” government had weakened Bangladesh’s sovereignty and served the interests of a neighboring country. Referring to a former prime minister’s statement about what had been given to India, he said Abrar’s opposition to such submission was his “real crime.”

He said Abrar’s killing was an attempt to frighten the people of Bangladesh. However, the incident instead moved the nation and awakened patriotic forces, eventually contributing to the 2024 student-public movement and the fall of the “fascist government” on August 5.

Rizvi also praised the sacrifices of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal activists, saying the organization had never relied on secret or disguised politics and had maintained its presence on the streets.

Referring to Abrar’s memory, Rizvi said the people would not surrender national interests to conspiracies. Quoting the proverb, “We will not give even an inch of our land without a fight,” he said nationalist forces would continue to resist any attempt to compromise the country’s interests.

The discussion was chaired by JCD President Rakibul Islam Rakib and moderated by Secretary Nasir Uddin Nasir.

Among others, Dhaka University Treasurer Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, BNP Central Health Affairs Secretary Dr Rafiqul Islam, JCD Central Joint General Secretary Shyamol Malum, DU JCD President Ganesh Chandra Roy Sahas, Secretary Nahiduzzaman Shipon and Abrar’s father Barkat Ullah addressed the event.

A large number of JCD leaders and activists attended the programme.
